Chalet Hills Golf Club Overview
Chalet Hills Golf Club offers a par 73 challenge, one of the few in Illinois, amidst stunning scenery with stark elevation changes and native wildlife. Originally the private playground of investor George Bates, the course's public debut came in the 1960s as Chalet Golf Course. After acquiring new ownership in 1986, it underwent a major renovation by Ken Killian between 1992 and 1995, a transformation costing over $4 million. Back in 1994, a round at Chalet Hills could be had for just $31.
The venue is a true test for golfers of all skill levels, with the aforementioned par of 73 and a total yardage of 6,877 yards. Its 74 course rating and 142 slope make it comparable in difficulty to other demanding courses like
The Preserve at Oak Meadows,
George W. Dunne, and
Bowes Creek.
Be prepared to be on your toes throughout your round, as the course keeps you guessing with its varied terrain and strategic water hazards. The front nine features two par 5s, while the back nine boasts three.
A striking feature of Chalet Hills is its dramatic elevation changes. The highest point on the course is 100 feet higher than the lowest, leading to some impressive tee shots and challenging approach shots. The course is well maintained, with lush fairways, smooth greens, and strategically placed bunkers. Water also comes into play on many holes, with numerous ponds and a large lake in the center of the property adding to the difficulty.
While the
practice facilities at Chalet Hills are limited to a single green for putting and chipping, the
clubhouse shines with its spacious and modern design. Golfers can browse a well-stocked pro shop featuring a variety of logo merchandise like hats and shirts.
