Springbrook Golf Course Overview
Built in 1974, Springbrook Golf Course underwent a year-long renovation, reopening in June 2023 after substantial improvements. The project, totaling $3.5 million, encompassed the installation of new tees and bunkers, the reconstruction of two bridges and ponds, and drainage enhancements. Owned by the Naperville Park District, Springbrook is one of two park district courses --
Naperbrook
is the other. As of 2023, Springbrook was priced $6 higher than Naperbrook and is considered the more challenging course. Renowned golf course architect Roger Packard, known for his work on
Cantigny,
Oak Brook, and
Prairie Bluff, originally designed Springbrook Golf Course.
Navigating Springbrook demands precision through its 6,918 yards. Water features prominently, appearing on 10 of the 18 holes, with Spring Brook Creek weaving through the heart of the property. While the terrain itself is flat, accuracy is paramount due to the narrow fairways lined by mature trees. Beautifully manicured greens and challenging play, rated 73.0 with a 135 slope, put it on par with courses like
Odyssey,
Orchard Valley, and
Water's Edge.
Be prepared to strategize around the abundant water hazards and tight fairways to conquer this par 72 course.
The venue offers a comprehensive
practice facility, featuring a grass tee driving range with 28 stalls and two putting greens next to the clubhouse. An additional green, situated east of the parking lot, includes two practice bunkers. You can tune up every aspect of your game here. The
pro shop
is spacious and well-stocked, offering a variety of merchandise, including a decent selection of clubs. The onsite restaurant provides a typical golf course menu, featuring items such as hot dogs, brats, fries, and sandwiches; however, it is not positioned as a destination restaurant like some suburban golf course establishments.
