Billy Caldwell Golf Course Chicago, Illinois
Played on 6/8. Course looks good. Greens were in fine shape. Rough was easy to get out of. Worth the low fees!
Fountain Hills Golf Club Alsip, Illinois
Played on 6/11. Solid 9-hole track. The last hole is a fun one to navigate with the water on the right of the fairway as well as long. Course in solid condition with a few extra wet spots due to the rain storms that came through Chicago area.
Meadows Golf Club of Blue Island Blue Island, Illinois
Played on 6/15. Course is in solid condition. The major rain storms added some water in the area so need to be careful driving the carts, but besides that the fairways are clean and the greens are solid. A few tee boxes need some mowing, but besides that, impressed with the value and condition of the course.
Bolingbrook Golf Club Bolingbrook, Illinois
Place is really expensive ever since LIV swung by... Too expensive. It's very windy here, that's the main course defense. Conditioning is usually very good. The separate short game area is amazing. For a fee, you can spend hours there working on different shots of up to a couple hundred yards. There's full practice holes, which is great.
Edgebrook Golf Course Chicago, Illinois
Very basic muni that has exactly zero places to practice before your round, no putting green no chipping, no nets, just grip it and rip it and hope for the best, which is probably how the scots intended it anyway
The Evans at Canal Shores Evanston, Illinois
The redesign from last year is awesome. The same setup essentially but everything is in better shape. The holes near the Temple give you that great view. The 7th hole (the putting hole) is fun. Tip: If the pin is toward the back of the green, you need to hit the putt as hard as you can, don't hold back. Aim far to the right, it breaks hard left.
shame this place is gone. had good bones. they never invested a dime in this joint. just died on the vine
Stonewall Orchard Golf Club Grayslake, Illinois
Just a tremendous course all around. Thoughtful holes, and they're in great shape. It's in my top 3 Chicago area tracks. It's $132 to play on weekends now, which is steep, but sometimes you gotta treat yoself.
White Mountain Golf Park (Closed) Tinley Park, Illinois
As for May 1st, 2026, this course has permanently closed.
Willow Hill Golf Course Northbrook, Illinois
Tee boxes: Pretty rough. Slanty.
Fairways: Are mostly okay, but there are some real rough spots.
Rough: Scruffy, unkempt. Ground under repair vibes. Neglected in a lot of areas. Dandelions everywhere, made it hard to find balls.
Greens: Good shape for May.
Bunkers: A real highlight here. Surprisingly good, they were replaced last year.
Glencoe Golf Club Glencoe, Illinois
The course says the diving range is closed until sometime in June. The little short game area is open at least. Clubhouse construction is ongoing. They are targeting a September opening. It should be really nice. Long overdue. Better late than never?
White Deer Run Golf Club Vernon Hills, Illinois
There's good practice areas here, and obviously the range is prominent, but the short game areas are really nice. The main green is obvious next to the clubhouse, and you can hit wedges here up to about 40 yards, depending on how crowded the green is. Plus there's a big bunker, though it's not always in the best shape. There's another green on your way to the first hole, sort of long and thin shaped, which is past the driving range. If you're lucky, you'll have it to yourself and can hit wedges up to about 45 yards. But it's a popular spot, so don't count on it.
Columbus Park Golf Course Chicago, Illinois
Went on Saturday, May 9th. It's a no-frills course but fun. Wide fairways and mostly straight away. Fairways could use more distinguishing between fringe and rough, but it's what you'd expect from a municipal course. Greens are in good shape but misleading. Slower than expected but there's been a ton of rain the past couple weeks. Reads are half out what you'd expect...two balls right? make it one.

Time of play was a little slow, but it was a full course. All things considered, pace was maybe 15-20 mins behind, but again...it's a municipal course. Overall, great first time playing and a laid-back course with fun personal. Mike (ranger) was a hell of a guy!
Tam O'Shanter Golf Course Niles, Illinois
Fun laid back local track where you can take your kids and family and enjoy yourself. Actually used to be a world class course where bigwigs played but those days are long gone. Its next to the river and so the place floods a lot, gotta keep an eye on the des plaines river levels and weather before you show up. Restaurant here is really good, great burgers and bar food, awesome place to watch games with tons of big TVs and cold beers
Maple Meadows Golf Course Wood Dale, Illinois
Currently undergoing a massive renovation and the word is it won't open until mid-2027 but I'm worried they'll jack the prices up too much. This was a good value especially with all the inflation and I hope we don't lose another course to $100+ prices (The Preserve). Especially for a forest preserve track.
Lost Marsh Golf Course Hammond, Indiana
The most absurdly difficult and intimidating first 5 holes in the Midwest. Place is crazy. If you survive that. Rest of the round is pretty easy in comparison.
Arboretum Club Buffalo Grove, Illinois
This place can be so frustrating. Target golf. Constricted fairways. Can't use driver on a lot of holes due to course layout. Even though some of the holes are pretty long. Dick Nugent didn't do us any favors.
Settler's Hill Golf Course Batavia, Illinois
Still rough around all edges however the layout has been changed. Will need to play it to provide a more accurate review. Range has water on the right side, course budget must entirely be on range balls preventing capital improvements elsewhere.
Glenview Prairie Club Glenview, Illinois
Despite the massive rain we've gotten lately. Course was in good shape. Bunkers were rough though. Would benefit from more attention to raking.
Stony Creek Golf Course Oak Lawn, Illinois
The course I grew up near and learned the game on almost 30 years ago. Sadly, the course itself feels like it hasn't gotten better in all these years.

It's a park district course, but does not have the best maintained tee boxes or fairways. If you were worried about getting tee times, it usually has open patches of times available
