Apple Orchard Golf Course Overview
The village of Bartlett owns this fun and relaxed 9-hole par-3 venue. Apple Orchard Golf Course opened in 1960 and has been introducing people to the game for generations. This is a perfect spot for families and folks new to golf looking for a chill time on the links. It’s reasonably priced, at $17 for 9 holes in 2023. An ad I found for Apple Orchard in the 1974 Chicago Tribune mentioned it was $1.75 to play back then. In 2000, the Daily Herald mentioned it cost $7 for residents.
As you’d expect for this par-3 course, par is 27. The track measures out to 1,247 yards, averaging 139 yards/hole. There’s only one set of tees here, but the 3rd hole does have two tee boxes. The forward tee is 143 yards, but you can test yourself 50 yards further back at 193 if you like. The longest hole is #6, at 213 yards, which tees off at the far northeastern tip of the property.
Mature trees line the fairways here and small greenside bunkers adorn most of Apple Orchard’s greens. The terrain is mostly flat. There’s just one body of water to avoid -- a pond on the 9th hole.
As for practice facilities, it’s pretty modest, as you might expect for a muni par-3 course. There’s one practice putting green. Unfortunately, a sign there forbids chipping, so there’s that. There’s no driving range or nets to hit into. The small clubhouse building contains a counter where you can check in and purchase snacks, beverages, and basic pro shop items like golf balls and gloves.
