Naperbrook Golf Course Overview
Naperbrook Golf Course, opened in 1991 by the Naperville Park District, is a links-inspired course in unincorporated Plainfield. Designed by renowned architect Larry Packard (known for sister course Springbrook and over 100 other courses, including all four at Innisbrook Resort), Naperbrook features native prairie grasses, expansive greens, and even a double green.

The track stretches across 6,677 yards, presenting a challenge comparable to Oak Brook, St. Andrews, and Winnetka with its 72.2 course rating and 129 slope. Expect well manicured greens, tees, and fairways alongside a links-style layout featuring wide-open fairways, native prairie grasses, and minimal trees. Water hazards come into play on 12 of the 18 holes, with ten ponds strategically placed to keep golfers on their toes. A unique double green shared by the 12th and 16th holes adds another layer of intrigue. The signature par-5 3rd hole stands out as a true test, demanding both power and precision with its 550-yard extreme dogleg right and water lurking on both sides.

While the terrain is mostly flat, making it walkable or easily navigable by cart, the good spacing between holes allows for some leeway in finding wayward shots. Homes border the course's perimeter, but the interior plays free from development.

Naperbrook’s practice facility was renovated in 2021, with great results. The grass tee driving range features a trap for practicing fairway bunker shots, a very nice touch. Additionally, a huge putting and chipping green lets you hone your short game skills. The pro shop here might be somewhat compact, but its walls are packed with everything you need, from shirts and hats to shoes, bags, clubs, and accessories. The modern clubhouse features a restaurant with lots of outdoor seating. The menu contains classic golf course staples like hot dogs, brats, burgers, and sandwiches. The hefty $4.75 hot dog (as of 2023) is a standout deal -- it's massive and overflows the bun.
