Eaglewood Resort Golf Club Overview
The golf course at Eaglewood Resort & Spa may only be 6,017 yards, but it maximizes every single one of them. Chicago area public courses are generally pretty flat -- not Eaglewood. The hilly terrain here makes this track stand out. Seemingly every hole has significant elevation changes to contend with.

While you're coping with the hills here, you'll also need to avoid some incredibly deep and treacherous bunkers. I took photos of some of the bunkers to give you an idea of the depth and scale, but it doesn't do them justice. You don't see too many of these in Chicagoland public courses. Combined with the ridges and slopes in the terrain, the sand traps dramatically frame certain holes. For example, hole #2 is a short par-4, but four giant greenside bunkers are carved into the earth and generate a healthy amount of tension!

There’s plenty of water to avoid here too, further ramping up the difficulty. The course has a bit of interesting routing. Instead of two par-5’s on each side, there’s one par-5 on the front, and three on the back.

If you can’t tell already, I really love this course. The only thing it’s really missing is a driving range. There’s a huge practice green that’s shaped like a fidget spinner. The restaurant here is called the Prairie River and has all the golf course standard fare you want, and then some. The pro shop is huge and stocked well. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
